if you give me 2 books to choose from, one with visual and the other one just words, i would choose the visual one first *smiles* i not a very word person so reading a thick book will take me awhile longer than others, but reading a manga or comic is a different story.
for me, there's no age gap in reading, if its interesting, just pick it and read!

well, if you are interested in reading something hilarious about a kid life, Diary of a Wimpy Kid is one of the book to pick up and read...

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a children illustration novel by Jeff Kinney, and is all about the life of Greg Heffley, who lives a terrible life. we been through school life before, so its easy to relate to some part or most of the story. but whats interesting about this series is just that its humor!
this is the forth book in my collection of Wimpy Kid series, there's actually total of nine books by Jeff Kinney plus a real life movie, which i didnt watch at all since i wasnt interested in watching a real life Greg on screen. i rather leave it to my own imagination rather than seeing a real life Greg and then it start to appear in my mind whether i read the book. there's more than just reading, its all about letting your imagination run free while reading.
this book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck, is all about Greg losing his best friend Rowley, and finding new friends is hard. plus how using a magic 8 ball to predict his fate *if there's really something that can always tell you what to do each time, i guess one day we soon just live a robotic life* and how he learn a few tricks to turn his life around. one thing for sure, Greg isnt your everyday friendly kid next door.
one trick about reverse psychology that parents will use on children, whether it really works on adult by kids is another story, but it always work on kid for sure! lots of interesting and humorous facts of life as a kid, you will not get bored reading it *smiles*
at the back of this book, there is few things that you can play around with for kids. one is a list of choices and games to predict your future, wheel of fortune to see what scores you get = higher scores meaning more luck you have. and whats more, there's a quiz for kid to play with their friends.

to summarize all this, is a book of school life, friendship and being a kid. well, life is never easy and if life doesnt seem happy, change it and life goes on!
